I grew up in Massachusetts in an old farmhouse with a wide array of farm animals and household pets. I have lived in many places over the years including Texas, Maine and even Balikpapan, Indonesia. I moved to Georgia from New York with my husband (Ben) and children (John and Rowan) at the very end of 2017. Ben is a professor at Georgia State University. John graduated from Johns Creek High School in May 2020 and is attending Georgia State University to pursue film and media studies. Rowan is a senior at JCHS this year and is attending classes at GSU's downtown campus as a dual enrollment student.
I received my BS from Cornell University and worked for several years within the hospitality industry, first running a historic inn in New York and later managing the college banquet facilities at Texas A&M University. I returned to school and earned my M.Ed. from the University of New Hampshire. I have since taught at the high school level (health and child development courses) as well as elementary (5th and 4th grade RELA). This is my third year teaching at State Bridge Crossing.
I love traveling and being outside. My family frequently loads up our car and gear and heads to nearby state parks or Lake Lanier to kayak and SUP. John loves to fish and we all enjoy hiking and geocaching. Magnet fishing is another fun family activity that we all enjoy, especially at Unicoi Lake where we have found a plethora of unusual and interesting objects.
Swedish fish is my all time favorite candy. I am also a homemade pizza and pasta fan. Rowan makes amazing bread (she had a good teacher). My whole family loves going to the Dekalb Farmer's Market to buy fresh pasta. Sometimes we make our own at home, too. I love food and cooking and now John and Rowan do as well.
